"A community of people who have decided that easy will no longer suffice."
So let me see if I understand this. We pay fees for the most expensive workout system around. We only have open gym for a few hours one day of the week, so we have to be in a class, with a coach, the rest of the week to use the gym. Now, we have to pay more money for outside trainers "so trainers can help you get it down and tweak whatever you may be missing".
What the fuck is the purpose of our coaches and our classes then?!!! What are they supposed to be doing while we are in class?
How about you reevaluate who you allow to coach? Take Jeremiah for example. He never starts class on time. He never spends time engaging all of the students. He spends most of the time making stupid jokes with other coaches who happen to wander in or in conversations with his bros. It's really great when we are lifting and he spends most of his time with his back to the class.
While I'm at it, how about Laura Knox? She obviously looks down her nose at those she's supposed to be helping. The students know it. They discuss it before her classes. You can see the collective eye rolls from men and women when she walks in and they learn she is coaching. There's even some who simply go home or go work out on the other side of the gym when she walks in. I get it. She hates us women who are married with kids. Sorry, we have more meaningful things to do then chase married men with high crossfit scores. We've even overheard her tell her guys several times that she hates coaching women. Why is she a coach then? We get it though. She's special to Eddie and doesn't really have people skills, but it's doing a disservice to us paying gym members who want to improve when she obviously hates those she coaches. How many have left the gym permanently because of her or other bad coaches?
We're lucky to have some excellent coaches who care about helping others improve such as Kevin, JJ, Dena, Jarison, Dana, Lyn, Bruce, Paula when she's not mouthing off, and a few others. How about holding all coaches to the same professional standard where they should be role models and willing to actually coach the paying students. Do we really need to be paying more money for outside help for seminars when we attend classes with coaches whose job it is to guide us?
Wow. I have never had those sort of experiences with Laura or Jeremiah. Laura is tough, but crossfit is not about being coddled. Coaches are there to push us. I have never felt that she looked down upon me. That seems to be your personal opinion. So please don't speak for others. Jeremiah may start class late occasionally, but its because he spends time working with the students and doesn't want to rush them. He comes by and checks on us and offers advice, which has to be very difficult when sometimes we have 15 or 20+ students to one coach. How about we address student to coach ratios, instead of blaming the coaches for not being able to engage everyone all the time. It seems that your statements are overstated and exaggerated, not to mention personal and just outright rude. Next time, how about saying something in private?
Dear Pissed of Crossfitter,
Please go find another box to take your drama too! We don't need nor want you at OUR box!
Laura is a great coach and very helpful, maybe she just doesn't like you! Laura is also the one who is not going to sugar coat nor coddle anyone in crossfit, if you need coddling and sugar coating go get that from your family. If your doing something wrong she will tell you and she will show you the right way to do something. Seriously attacking her when you don't even know her is childish. So take your drama queen ass to another box if you feel like OUR box isn't good enough for you.
You speak of "professional standards" it is obvious from your post that you have no idea what " professional standards" are.
Tonja IS really tan and so is Paula. I feel that they are TOO tan. I feel pressured to get into a tanning bed.
Jeremiah jumps really high. And I just can't ever jump that high.
Laura is really loud when she grunts and it makes me uncomfortable.
Dana and Kevin are way too buff. I can never be like them.
Bruce is way too strong. It's intimidating.
All the fit CrossFitters are so fit, it's distracting.
This is my favorite comment of all!!!! Hahahahaha!!!!!
I am not to Tan,I am just right. Tanning helps me with my squats so one day I can squat more than Eddie. I will let you borrow my Dark Tanning oil so you can get tan to :-)
Hahaha! That's hilarious:D
If you won't put your name on it, it's not worth saying. Haters will be haters!
I'm thankful for every member of my CrossFit family. Without y'all we would be in a new town with very few friends but with y'all we have family here.
Girl there is any coach that would be more than happy to help u on any lift or anything u feel that u want to get better at, all u have to do is ask us. We want to get your PR's and if u have a problem or concern with anything talk to Eddie and he will address it I promise.
Wow. I'm sorry you feel that way toward some of our coaches. I really wasn't aware there was a problem. I never have complaints about any of our coaches so your complaints will certainly be addressed. I do apologize if they offend you. It's my intention to keep on staff the best trained coaches we can find. I want our members to have the best information possible to help them with their fitness. That in mind we scheduled this Olympic lifting seminar as another way our members as well as other crossfitters could gain more knowledge on Olympic lifting from a professional Olympic lifting organization who could further help them over and beyond the knowledge shared by our coaching staff. We are versed in many different areas but by no means do we absolutely know everything. Although I wish it could be free it simply just cannot. That is what the company is charging per head to come up here from florida and teach the class. We are not profiting one red cent from it. In fact it's costing us a hefty deposit to bring them here. Think of it as a service were trying to provide to our customers. We are aware that you pay a lot of money to be a part of crossfit. So we want to provide these Opportunities when when can. No, you don't have to attend. You can still get good, solid advice from our coaches. And yes most of them will be there as well trying to further their knowledge base to bring back and share with the class. There is just a minimum number required before they will come and we haven't met it yet. That's what my post was about and paula post.. Well that's her way of motivating I guess. Again I am sorry for how you feel about our coaches and we certainly didn't mean to offend you buy actually having to charge money for seminar. Things cost. But please next time you feel this way approach me in person. I'm very approachable and I would love to have the opportunity to fix anything that is wrong before it gets to this point. If I don't know it I can't fix it right? Speak up in class as well. Talk to the coaches, engage them, they would love the feed back as well. Hope this helps. Have a good day
I think Laura Knox and Jeremiah are both great coaches. Everyone one is going to have a coach that they "click" with more than the others. That's the way personalities work. That does not mean one is any better than the others.
If you are unhappy this was not the place to say it.
I completely disagree with whoever you are! I have been with this CrossFit family for over 3 years and have never had an issue getting help from a coach. No matter who that coach may be. Also, coaches are not mind readers. If you are struggling with something then speak up. Ask for help. You will get it. I do think this was a cowardly and rude way for you to address concerns you have. If you are this unhappy and dissatisfied then maybe you should seek out another program. The "extra" seminars are brought to us to help us grow. And work goes into them to be brought to us. So yes, they cost "extra". If you don't want to pay "extra" then don't. It's that simple. There's always someone in the crowd that expect stuff for free I guess. This post really pissed me off!
We all have coaches we click with better than others, everyone is different and we all like different styles of coaching. Let's also remember that we all do some "smack talking" on the grass before the Wod, however I always have taken it as in fun. Their is not one coach that I feel I could not ask for help with a lift and not get it. This was the wrong place to voice this complaint, not to mention personal remarks that are rude and uncalled for. If I ever have an issue I have no doubt that I can take it directly to Eddie and he would hear me out with an open mind and try to solve it.
While, you may have some valid concerns in regards to how a class is run or what training is involved, there are some concerns here that are completely irrelavant to CrossFit. What Laura does or doesn't do on her own time, is none of anyone's business.
The fact that Laura chose not to be married and have children at this time is also none of your business. If you would like to be respected for the fact that you chose to do otherwise, extend the same courtesy to those who made their own choice.
If you have personal concerns with Jeremiah and Laura, then you should have enough "balls" to address it to their face, anonymously posting it online is very cowardly.
In regards to actual CrossFit concerns that you have, apparently you have never done any sort of training in any areas of life, otherwise you would know that to stay on top of any subject matter, you must always be willing to learn. Things are always changing and growth requires change.
In any sort of activity, training is always done to make sure the person does not become stagnant.
So if you wish to NOT invest any more money, that's entirely your business but no one cares to know why, especially not in this context. With all due respect, take your ranting elsewhere.
I want to start by saying a great thanks to crossfit south Atlanta, mark and deana
And Jeremiah and Laura and to the great members ( family) you have
Monday was my first opportunity to go thru a workout from
Start to finish under the care of your professional team. I got in a great work out, I was given personal instruction from your knowledgable trainers and was motivated by a gym full of great members.
After being in the fitness industry (we ll just say over 10 years so my age is secret)
I walked (crawled lol) away from the gym with a great respect for crossfit and a craving for more.
Thank you for the challenge
Thank you for the care and professionalism
A great team
And thank you for the great workout
I ll be back 💪💪💪💪
Best wishes to all

I have missed this summer because of scheduling conflicts with vacation, and football however, I'm going to chime in! If u have the balls to call people out, have the balls to put your name. It is obvious u are a female from ur post so I realize u have no balls so go borrow some and put ur name. Do not try to defame people, disrespect people and put negativity into the world and then try to protect ur self
the many other words I could have used in this post but....
WHAT A COWARD!!!!!! How dare you call people out on a public sight for personal matters. How rude of you. If you had this many problems you should have went to Eddie or somebody that can make the necessary changes to allow you to feel more comfortable. I think that if you are having this many problems then you need to find some where else to go or go to a class that they do not coach, that also goes towards the other people that are "talking" about Laura before class starts. If you don't like it don't go. I have never had Laura personally but I can guarantee that she is just as good as any other coach in Crossfit. Every coach I have worked with have been great. So with that being said if your not going to say anything to somebody personally about your problems then shut up.
I have been in "the box " for four months and I love it more every week. Each coach has a different personality and different strengths. I have cringed when knowing Laura would be the coach but it was only because I knew she would be watching carefully and expecting perfect form - which she is always showing and coaching- that's her job and she does it well. Jeremiah makes class fun but always requires our best and is encouraging. I love to see the other coaches work out with us when they aren't coaching because even then I learn from them. I have noticed my strength improve and positive body changes. I'm totally happy and addicted to crossfit. Our box rocks - thank you to all who come each day and encourage and push. We have a lot of fun and get a lot done !!!!!
My main concern is with the coaching staff as well. Take tonja. He's so tan I don't like to stand next to him. It portrays the image that one should lay in the tannig bed or a scorch their skin in the sun. That is not healthy. And Bruce likes to pick up heavy stuff and I and others just can't do that much. It makes me feel inferior. I think he's just a show boater with his heavy powercleans. J Mac once looked at me once in a way I thought was unacceptable. And then I kno he's not a coach but the tall guy , Chris I think, always takes weights from all of us and takes them into the other room. I'm not sure what he's doing in there but he makes a lot of noise and I can't concentrate at times. As to Jeremiah my main concern is that I don't see him work out enough. He comes in and coaches but is he really even a crossfitter or just a poser. You tell me. Laura is mean as hell yes. One time she got onto me for not getting my depth on a squat. I mean, I'm paying money to work out and I don't need anybody telling me I didn't hit depth. Maybe my parallel is different than others from body composition. I see Kevin and Dana in there loving on each other a little too much sometimes. It's almost like they get off on watching each other work out. Not to forget Lynnwood. If he worked out half as much as he rolled himself out with the foam rollers and balls he could he could help more people. I just wish Eddie would show me more attention. Closer spots and such. I think other than those things it's a great team
This is hilarious!
this. Is. Hilarious !
Dear Troubled Crossfitter, Kevin and I would be happy to love on you! You're my hero!
This has to be Jeremiah Booher
I wish these people complaining would shut up. I mean I'm trying not to be ugly but damn quit bitching. If you have a damn problem then open your damn mouth if you don't have the balls to then stop complaining and work out. I mean some of the things people are saying are stupid and childish. To the people complaining...get the hell over it. This is crossfit. Not kindergarten. Grow the F up
Don't feed the trolls.
Troubled crossfitter is my hero.
I pity the fools
This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. If you are truly concerned with how certain coaches choose to coach, then it should be brought to Eddie's attention and not posted anonymously on today's WOD. Or, if you are that unhappy with your experience at South Atlanta, then leave. I have never had a negative experience with any of the coaches at our box. As far as Lyn using the foam rollers and balls, he is my coach every single day of the week and I truly believe that he does the things he does so that none of his Crossfitters are hurt doing the workouts. And as far as Bruce and Tonja go, I'm sorry, is Tonja supposed to be ashamed because he can tan and others can't? That's so ridiculous, I can promise you that I'm probably the whitest person at our box, have absolutely no capability of obtaining any color whatsoever, and I'll go stand next to him and not feel the least bit shamed or embarrassed. That sounds like an insecurity issue to me. And is Bruce supposed to just stop lifting more weight because you're mad that you can't lift as much? Please, that's crazy. We're supposed to all encourage each other and push each other to get better, not put them on a guilt trip because they can lift more, run faster, or whatever. They're there to push us, if we were around people who were all at the same fitness level, we would never improve.
That other post was poking fun at the original ridiculous one by the "unsatisfied" crossfitter. :)
I was so fired up about the original post I didn't even realize that lol.
Laura as you can see, your box family has your back. You too J Boo Boo! Keep on doing what your doing.
I agree with Paula Fortner and Elly. Posting the things you did WITHOUT your name was rude and cowardly. Also, attacking someone personally because you don't like their coaching style or practices is uncalled for. If you don't like something address it like an adult instead of getting brave behind a computer/phone keyboard. I am a middle school teacher, and I can honestly say this post is exactly something a middle school girl would do. Shame on you.
I sorry youz guyz. Can you find it in your Paleo feed hearts to forgive me? I try to do burpees and I choke.... try to do box-jumps but I stumble...... - Macy Gray
Are you picking on me now? :)
You guys crack me up and thanks for having all the coaches back!!
